Several years ago, we prayed for the pro-life pregnancy care centers in Baltimore. The super-liberal city council had passed an ordinance requiring pro-life centers to post signs at their doors to notify potential clients that they do not “provide or refer for surgical or medical abortions.” The abortion industry has falsely promoted the narrative that pro-life pregnancy care centers deceitfully pose as abortion clinics to draw abortion-minded women in to hear their message of life. While nothing could be farther from the truth, the pro-abortion city council gladly supported the abortion industry by passing what was on its face a violation of the centers’ First Amendment freedoms. After five years of fighting, U.S. Federal District Judge Marvin J. Garbis ruled in favor of the pregnancy care centers. Matt Bowman, legal counsel at the Alliance Defending Freedom said, “No American should be forced to promote activities or speak messages that violate their deepest convictions, as Baltimore’s ordinance required.” An ADF-allied attorney, Mark Rienzi, represented the PCCs in the case. Similar cases are being litigated elsewhere and this case may be appealed (see Pro-life Centers win First Amendment Victory).
May God intervene to undo every legislative effort to restrain pro-life centers from saving moms and babies from the horror of abortion!
